ME685A: Applied Numerical Methods

Course Instructor
Dr. K Muralidhar; Arun K. Saha
Course Description

This course is open to MTech (regular and dual), MS, and doctoral students of relevant engineering departments such as ME, AE, CE, and ChE. In addition, third and fourth year undergraduate students particularly those wanting to have a minor in computational engineering can also register for it. The course is an introduction to numerical techniques in engineering analysis. Knowledge of Fortran/C/Matlab is a pre-requisite. The course outline is given below: mathematical modeling, Taylor series approximation, root finding, linear algebraic equations, curve fitting, numerical differentiation, integration, ODEs, PDEs, eigenvalue problems, SVD.
